The
following instructions explain how to publish Alexicom AAC pages for
offline use. In this example, we use the Firefox browser and
save downloads in Documents. If you are using Internet Explorer or are saving your downloads
somewhere else, be aware of where the downloads go.
Step
1
Log into your Alexicom
account and select Publish Pages from the Authoring Tools fly-out
menu
Step
2
Select the
client
Step
3
Select the
pages you want to publish and click on the Publish button.
Step
4
Once the pages have been constructed, a
"Click here to download" link will appear. Click on this link.
Step
5
A window
will open and prompt you whether you want to open or save the file. Select
Save. Remember where your saved files go. This location may depend on
how you have the options set for your browser.
Step
6
Now close
your browser and go to the location where you saved the AlexicomTech zip file. In this example, it is in Documents. Right-click on the file
and select Extract All...
Step
7
Follow the
prompts to continue extracting the files. We suggest extracting to the Desktop, but
any familiar location will work.
Step
8
Once the
files have been extracted, a new window containing the extracted content
will open. Double-click on the file called Alexicom (or Alexicom.html) to open it with your default
browser.
Step
9
When your browser opens,
select the page that you wish to load from the dropdown list and press Load Page.
Step
10
The selected page will open and you
are ready to go! You are now using published page content stored on your own computer's
hard drive. You no longer need to be connected to the internet. If you go online and
edit pages or make new pages, you will need to repeat this process.
Publish all pages that you want to have actively linked together.
