Camera Mouse innovative software for people with disabilities

This FREE software tracks your eyes, nose, or mouth with a webcam to control the mouse on your computer.

In the video below, we explain how to use CameraMouse software with a webcam to generate speech output from Alexicom AAC pages using only head movements. We briefly cover CameraMouse parameters, including clicking, smoothing, gain, and exclude, and then demonstrate Alexicom dropdown list page selection and button presses.

Who can benefit from Camera Mouse?

Camera Mouse is intended for people who cannot move their hands to control a mouse. To use Camera Mouse a person needs to be able to control the movement of his or her head.

X-Mouse Button Control is a free windows application to remap your mouse buttons.

This software will allow you to navigate through your pages with only limited use of your finger or fingers.

In the video below, we explain how to associate the left and right mouse buttons with keystrokes, essentially turning the mouse into a two-switch switching device. We also show how to add a third switch for more advanced users.

In our second X-Mouse video, we explain how to configure the mouse wheel as the primary means of navigation and selection. The left and right mouse buttons become secondary inputs. This allows for faster selection of controls, but requires use of the mouse wheel. Again, no hand movement is necessary. Alexicom AAC pages are navigated using only one's fingers.

The following information comes from the X-Mouse Button Control website:

You are able to provide an application specific mappings, which means one application can use the mouse differently from another. This is useful for games which do not inherently support the extended mouse buttons, because you can map keys to each button.

What's more, the list of functions available to map to is somewhat more comprehensive than the 32bit MS Intellimouse Software can handle, including things like:

  • Copy/Cut/Paste
  • Volume Up/Down/Mute
  • Media Player control
  • Send a custom keystroke sequence
  • Launch your email (or any other) application.
  • Capture screen (or active window) image to clipboard.
  • Click-Drag [Sticky Buttons].
  • Save and restore desktop icon positions.
  • Vista (and Windows 7) support including some Vista/7 only featurs such as 'Flip 3D'.
